River, Plain, Ocean
Mara Triangle crossings, Kogatende crossings, then the dust washed off in the Indian Ocean.
You watch the same river twice from opposite countries. First from the Mara Triangle escarpment, where herds pile up on the Kenyan bank and crocodiles hold station in the current. Then from Kogatende, where the same animals commit on the Tanzanian side and come up the far slope streaming water. Between them, cheetah coalitions on the Namiri plains and short grass running to the curve of the earth. It ends on Mnemba sand with a dhow leaning offshore and salt drying on your forearms.
Best months
Late July to early October, and within that, mid-August to mid-September is the target. That is when the herds are split across the Mara River and you can see crossings from the Kenyan bank in the Mara Triangle and from the Tanzanian bank at Kogatende on the same trip. Zanzibar is in its cool dry season through the same window. Skip April and May, when the long rains close northern Serengeti camps.

Crossing the borders
The mechanics that decide whether a multi-country route works. We handle all of it, but you should know what it involves.
A Kenya eTA at USD 30 and a Tanzania e-visa are both required and both must be approved before departure. The East Africa Tourist Visa does not help here because Tanzania is outside the scheme.
The Nairobi cross-city move is the pinch point. Wilson to JKIA is 45 minutes without traffic and two hours with it, so we book the earliest Ol Kiombo departure and hold a three-hour buffer.
Safarilink, Coastal Aviation and Auric Air all cap luggage at 15 kg per person in a soft duffel including hand baggage. Hard cases are refused. Excess is bonded in Arusha and collected in Zanzibar.
Auric Air runs Seronera and Kogatende to Zanzibar daily, so the safari to beach transition needs no overnight in Arusha or Dar es Salaam.
What the price actually covers.
From USD 24,180 per person sharing. Permits, park fees and charter legs are inside that number, not added at the end. International flights and visas are not.
Maasai Mara Triangle reserve fees and Olare Motorogi conservancy fees
Serengeti National Park fees, charged per 24 hours from entry
Serengeti Balloon Safaris flight with bush breakfast
All Safarilink, Coastal Aviation and Auric Air charter legs
Nairobi to Kilimanjaro scheduled sector on Kenya Airways
