Mist Into Grassland
Two Rwandan gorilla families and Nyungwe chimpanzees, then the Serengeti at full flood.
You climb through Rwandan potato terraces into bamboo, and a blackback drums his chest close enough that you feel it in your sternum. Two days later Nyungwe closes overhead, chimpanzees moving through the canopy while colobus fling themselves between crowns. Then RwandAir carries you east in under two hours and the world opens: baobabs, crater walls, and finally Kogatende, where the grass runs to a horizon that wobbles with heat and animals. Cold mountain mornings become dust, thorn and lion song inside a single week.
Best months
July to early October pairs the northern Serengeti crossing season at Kogatende with Rwanda's long dry spell. Late January to early March is the strong alternative, with Ndutu calving in the southern Serengeti and clear volcano weather. Avoid mid-March to mid-May, when Rwandan trails turn to grease and many Serengeti camps close.

Crossing the borders
The mechanics that decide whether a multi-country route works. We handle all of it, but you should know what it involves.
RwandAir is the only carrier flying Kigali to Kilimanjaro nonstop, roughly 1h45 and only twice weekly, so this itinerary is built backwards from those two departure days. The daily fallback routes via Nairobi.
Rwanda issues visa on arrival to every nationality at Kigali International, USD 50 for 30 days. Tanzania abolished visa on arrival, so the e-visa must be approved before you fly.
Coastal Aviation and Auric Air both cap you at 15 kg per person in a soft duffel including hand luggage. Surplus is bonded at Legendary Lodge in Arusha until the final day.
Tanzanian park fees are levied per 24 hours from entry, so we time the Manyara to Kogatende charter to avoid buying an extra Serengeti day.
What the price actually covers.
From USD 26,480 per person sharing. Permits, park fees and charter legs are inside that number, not added at the end. International flights and visas are not.
Two Volcanoes National Park gorilla permits at USD 1,500 each
Volcanoes golden monkey permit, USD 100 per person
Nyungwe chimpanzee trekking permit and canopy walkway fee
Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire park and crater fees
