Kigali to Kinigi
Four days, one gorilla trek, one golden monkey trek, and Kigali done properly.
You land in the afternoon and by the next morning you are at 2,500 metres in bamboo, following a tracker who has been with this family since before dawn. Rwanda's park sits close to the road, so the drive is short and the trek is the whole point. Golden monkeys the following day, quick and gold-flecked in the bamboo. Kigali holds the rest, the memorial at Gisozi, a cupping session, and Inema's studios before you fly.
Best months
June to September and December to February for firm bamboo-zone trails. Rwanda's Virunga slopes drain better than Bwindi, so even in the November short rains a four-day window usually holds. Book permits nine to twelve months ahead for June through September.
