Four Borders, One Rift
Bwindi, the Virungas, Laikipia, the Mara and the Serengeti in one continuous arc.
Nettles burn your forearms on the Buhoma climb, then a silverback exhales two metres away and the forest stops making noise. Nine days later you sit in Kogatende dust while wildebeest pour off a four-metre bank into brown water. Between those mornings: chimpanzees screaming through Kibale before sunrise, Rwanda's terraced volcanoes dropping away beneath your boots, Samburu trackers reading lion pug marks in Laikipia sand. Four passport stamps, three currencies, one rift valley running unbroken from Albertine cloud forest to Serengeti short grass.
Best months
Late June to early October, with the first three weeks of September the sweet spot. Kogatende and Mara Triangle crossings peak from August into September. The same window is the drier of Uganda and Rwanda's two dry seasons, so Bwindi's slopes firm up and treks average two to four hours instead of six. Mid-December to February is the fallback, with Ndutu calving replacing the river crossings.

Crossing the borders
The mechanics that decide whether a multi-country route works. We handle all of it, but you should know what it involves.
The East Africa Tourist Visa at USD 100 covers Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya. We apply through Uganda's portal because Entebbe is your first entry. Tanzania sits outside the scheme and needs a separate e-visa before departure.
Cyanika is the crossing we use over Katuna. Your Ugandan vehicle hands you to a Rwandan vehicle at the barrier, roughly 45 minutes end to end with pre-lodged passenger manifests.
Every light-aircraft leg enforces 15 kg per person in a soft duffel including hand luggage. Hard cases are refused at check-in. Excess is stored free in Entebbe and Nairobi.
Nairobi requires a JKIA to Wilson road transfer for the Safarilink legs, minimum two hours in traffic. Gorilla permits are name-locked and non-transferable, and September dates sell out six to nine months ahead.
What the price actually covers.
From USD 38,940 per person sharing. Permits, park fees and charter legs are inside that number, not added at the end. International flights and visas are not.
Bwindi gorilla permit USD 800 and Volcanoes gorilla permit USD 1,500 per person
Kibale chimpanzee habituation permit USD 300 and golden monkey permit USD 100
All park, crater and conservancy fees including Olare Motorogi and the Mara Triangle
Every Aerolink, Safarilink and Coastal Aviation charter leg on the route
Kigali to Nairobi and Nairobi to Kilimanjaro scheduled sectors
Serengeti Balloon Safaris flight with bush breakfast
